Writing: Being a Lovecraft admirer for many years I found this collection of stories to be true to form. While most of the stories were disturbing I thought that they captured the essence of what Lovecraft would have done if he told these stories as well as encapsulating some dark humor into the mix. This was a complex and well worthwhile read.
Artwork: While disturbing at times I found that the artwork was both effective, visceral” as well as thought provoking. This was some A+ art.
Overall: 4 stars. This was an intriguing title. I would continue to read this title. If you’re a fan of Lovecraft, this is a title worth picking up.
“What really makes this story different is the way it was told. It had a number of short reports being given from the field by this man who appears to be a reporter.” I thought the story was well done, and kept me interested in what was going on.
“The art was a good mix for this story. I liked the greyscale and thought it added depth to the story. The aliens in particular are done menacingly and well. also I thought that the artist captured the human interactions well.“Overall:” 4 stars. This one has captured my attention.”
“…absolutely hysterical… I really liked the last four pages and how they told the story without any dialog or narration… The” humor interwoven with some deeper thoughts and issues continues to make this one of my favorite books to read.

“Cut from the same cloth as everything from the Jurassic Park movies and Creature from the Black Lagoon…” X-Isle promises to be a rollicking, monster-filled adventure that hearkens back to the pulpy adventure tales of yesteryear.”
“this is an entertaining book largely thanks to well-defined characters and nice art from Scott and colorist Sunder Raj.
“There’s some interesting tensions that should play out in future issues, and the explanation for the island they wind up on should be an interesting one. “
“yet another entry in the rapidly growing and generally entertaining Boom! Studios stable…
“Scott’s art looks great…
“After only one issue, it’s too early too tell if the story will end up just another lost world story or if Cosby and Nelson can make this something more. Given Boom’s track record, I expect the latter.”
